| Dr. Diemer |
Jane L. Swanson, Ph.D., Southern Illinois University-Carbondale Department of Psychology Chair and Professor, and Matthew A. Diemer, Ph.D., Michigan State University Assistant Professor in Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Special Education, were named the 2007 Kuder Research Grant recipients.
Selected from a wide pool of applicants from across the U.S., Dr. Swanson will conduct a year-long study investigating the “Antecedents and Consequences of Using the Kuder Career Planning System (KCPS): Who Benefits Most and in What Manner?” Dr. Diemer’s study will focus on “Predicting Vocational Interest-College Major Correspondence among Youth of Color in Poverty: Using the Kuder Career Search with Person Match.”
“Not only was the review committee impressed with the research topics proposed by Dr. Swanson and Dr. Diemer, but their experience and knowledge in the field of counseling psychology promised quality projects,” said Catalina D’Achiardi-Ressler, Ph.D., Kuder Vice President of Research. “Additionally, we are excited about the potential findings of the studies that aim to discover the benefits of using the Kuder Career Planning System with students from varied backgrounds. The findings will further validate our mission as a company to provide quality and reliable career assessment and planning tools for students and adults.”
Grounded in a rich 70-year history of research-based products, we introduced the availability of two annual research grants last fall in an effort to continue the research tradition, support the work of those that specialize in vocational psychology or counseling education, and complement our own research efforts.
