New School Year Brings Enhancements, Updates

While work continues on the upcoming release of the Kuder Career Planning System 2010, we are pleased to announce a few enhancements to the current Kuder Career Planning System (KCPS) this fall. With improvements to the Kuder Curriculum Manager, updates to the 16 Career Clusters, and a new Events & Training Calendar, we continue to offer educators, their students and parents, and adults a complete solution for achieving their career goals.

Kuder Curriculum Manager
Enhancements to the Kuder Curriculum Manager make it easier for educators to customize their students’ four-year education plans, upload master course lists, and align plans with career clusters and pathways.

The curriculum manager is a flexible tool within the Kuder Administrative Database Management System that allows educators to create a template for student’s four- or six-year academic and career plans that align to their school-, district-, or state-specific courses and graduation requirements. Once information is inputed by the educator, students are able to access the plan template from the KCPS Education Planner.

The curriculum manager now features an improved, intuitive step-by-step process and more guidance and instruction for educators. Additional enhancements include the ability to assign courses to areas of study, review the plan template as the student would view it, and bulk remove uploaded courses.

To complement the improved curriculum manager, the administrative database also features a new reporting option to better facilitate the monitoring of education plans. Administrators will be able to login to their database and quickly search for students that have started a plan and those that have not. With many states requiring that students have a four-year plan, this feature allows educators to report on the progress of their students more accurately.

16 Career Clusters
Recently, the States' Career Cluster Initiative (SCCI) announced updates and changes to the 16 Career Clusters. We will be updating all Kuder systems that align to the 16 Career Clusters including Kuder Visions systems (Nebraska Career Connections, Missouri Connections, Kansas Career Pipeline, and the South Carolina College & Career Planning System) accordingly as information is released by the SCCI.

The updates, which include changes to cluster names and pathways, will be integrated seamlessly and will not affect any existing or future assessment results. For more information on the changes, please visit www.careerclusters.org.

Events & Training Calendar
This fall, schools will also benefit from a new Events and Training Calendar.
