Kuder Kick-Starts 2010 by Topping the DOL Challenge

In an effort to ensure that job seekers have the best possible resources at their fingertips, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration set up the “Tools for America’s Job Seekers Challenge” in November. The challenge asked for companies to post their tools on the challenge web site (www.dolchallenge.ideascale.com) by January and allow people to explore and recommend them. The goal of the challenge was to help the workforce investment system identify the best online tools and make them available to their job-seeking clients.

Over 470 Votes, 40 Comments Received
There were a total of 634 products submitted in seven categories. Our Kuder® Journey solution was posted under the Web-Based Career Exploration Sites category along with 78 other products. At the end of the voting phase, Kuder Journey received the highest number of recommendations in this category and sixth overall with more than 470 votes. Kuder Journey also received over 40 comments, making it one of the most commented on submissions in the challenge.

“In South Carolina, our public libraries have Kuder Journey available at no charge for the large influx of adults using library computers for job searches. The assessment tools help job seekers match their knowledge and interests to careers in demand, connect them to training resources in the state, prepare résumés, and more. The state is averaging 250 new users per week. Journey has proven to be great online tool to help our citizens in career transition.”

Kuder Journey Available on Career One Stop
According to the DOL, the job tools postings are the culmination of an eight-week effort to offer members of the public an opportunity to weigh in on their favorite career sites and to provide the sites themselves with a chance to raise awareness about the tools they offer. Government agencies, private companies, nonprofit organizations and many other entities came together to make the project a success.
