Kuder Improves Kuder® Galaxy with a Series of Enhancements
Kuder Galaxy, our elementary product for pre-kindergarten to fifth-grade students, underwent an update this February to include numerous enhancements to the system as well as additional activities for students. The enhancements, designed to create a more user-friendly registration and login process, were developed in response to feedback gathered from administrators and educators. Kuder has made significant changes to the administrative component of Kuder Galaxy, including the ability for schools and teachers to mass upload students and manage student accounts.
Details about how each component of Kuder Galaxy has been improved can be reviewed below. These enhancements have been created in addition to the existing functionalities of the system.
Students
Students are now able to choose their own user name through the Student Profile in their Galaxy Log. When student accounts are created, a number ID is generated and given to the student for initial log in – students are then encouraged to change their user name to one of their choice. The fifth-grade component of Galaxy has also been adjusted so that activity descriptions and feedback are tabbed, allowing for easier navigation. The home page includes an Activity of the Season, which is available for a limited amount of time to engage fifth-grade students.
To encourage further interaction, the system has been updated to include approximately 150 new activities for students. These activities have been spread across all developmental levels and in each of the four categories: Play, Watch, Do, and Explore. Kuder Galaxy now contains 400+ activities in total.
State Dashboards
Kuder has fully prepared the system for an organized, efficient statewide implementation to better offer state agencies a solution for the needs of their elementary population. State administrators may edit the district and school accounts under them and post messages to their designated district administrator contacts. State Dashboards also allow administrators to view real-time graphic reports depicting what career fields students are interacting with most often, as well as how many activities aligned with an education standard have been completed in the system statewide.
District Dashboards
District administrators may now manage their school accounts and add new schools through the District Dashboard. As new schools are added, districts may assign the amount of student accounts available to each. Further, administrators may now post messages to School Dashboards and the school administrators they have designated as contacts.
School Dashboards
School administrators have the ability to manage the teacher and student accounts under them. They may also add teachers or students, either by individual account or mass upload through the School Dashboard. The mass upload option is a quick, easy alternative to registration that can be utilized by the school administrator or the teachers who have been given accounts. An Excel template is provided for administrators to paste the necessary data into, and it can be uploaded directly onto the dashboard.
Administrators may post messages to their school teachers and to the parents and guardians of students using the system (if the parent or guardian has created a Parent Dashboard). They may also create and print reports of all teacher login information, including user names and passwords.
Teacher Dashboards
Teachers may now manage the students in their classroom(s), which includes the ability to add student accounts individually or through mass upload on the Teacher Dashboard. As with the School Dashboard, the mass upload option is a quick, easy alternative to individual registration of students. An Excel template is provided for teachers to paste the necessary data into, and it can be uploaded directly onto the dashboard. Teachers have the ability to create and print full reports of student login information, including user names and passwords. While managing student accounts, they may also edit this information as needed to provide classroom-issued user names.
To help teachers utilize specific activities to create lesson plans or classroom activities to do together, a search function has been included that allows teachers to view activities within the system. Teachers may view all activities or search by grade level and/or the education standard to which the activities align.
Teachers may also post messages to student accounts and to the parents and guardians of students using the system (if the parent or guardian has created a Parent Dashboard).
Parent Dashboards
Parents and guardians who have opted to create a Parent Dashboard may now post messages to the teachers that oversee their children in the Galaxy program. They may also edit student profiles and look up the login information for their children.
For more information about these new functionalities, please review the Galaxy guides available under the Resource Files in your dashboard. Administrators and teachers will want to continue to watch for Alerts regarding future updates to the system.
