Kuder is pleased to announce students at Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas now have access to Kuder Journey® (Journey). Journey is our online career planning system designed for postsecondary students and adults of all ages, giving them the knowledge, preparation, insight, and skills needed for meaningful employment immediately upon graduation.
After receiving grant funding as part of the UNCF Career Pathways Initiative (CPI) Jarvis Christian College looked to Kuder to help implement innovative, long-term solutions outlined in their winning proposal — one that highlighted a commitment to strengthening career advising and ensuring all students graduate better prepared for 21st-century jobs. The UNCF CPI is a program made possible by a $50 million investment from the Lilly Endowment and designed to help four-year historically black colleges or universities (HBCUs) or predominantly black institutions (PBIs) strengthen institutional career placement outcomes and increase the number of graduates who successfully transition to meaningful jobs in their chosen fields.
“Jarvis Christian College needed to a tool able to engage students, identify majors via a series of assessments, and offer information about professional associations, internships, and employment. We found all of this in Kuder Journey,” said Ches Talley, career center director and accounting student academic advisor. “I look forward to additional trainings and professional development opportunities from Kuder that will help career center staff better serve students.”
Prior to the college’s Spring Break in March, Kuder hopes to schedule system trainings with Jarvis Christian College career center staff, as well as interactive workshops during which freshmen will have the chance to complete Journey’s career interests, skills confidence, and work values assessments.
“Kuder is thrilled that Jarvis Christian College has chosen us to help prepare students for sustainable and meaningful careers,” said Kuder president and CEO Phil Harrington. “It is a true honor to be recognized as a solution able to support the unique needs of HBCU and PBI students and the objectives of the UNCF Career Pathways Initiative.”
Kuder’s research-based career assessment, education planning, and guidance resources have helped over 165 million people, including students at 16 HBCUs or PBIs, unlock the power of their potential and create bright futures.
