The Rwanda Career Planning System, powered by Kuder® (RCPS), which was utilized by 16,000 secondary students and administrators during its pilot phase, is now being rolled out nationwide. To support Phase II of this career guidance initiative, the Rwanda Education Board (REB) and Kuder partnered to conduct a national Career Guidance Workshop on November 30, 2016.
The event brought together major educational stakeholders including 27 district directors of education (DDEs), five regional inspectors, two REB deputy director generals in charge of teacher development and management and education quality assurance (respectively), and more than 120 headmasters from schools currently using the RCPS as well as those who will have access to the system in the near future.
Isaac Munyakazi, Rwanda's state minister for primary and secondary education, said, “Sometimes when students graduate, they are not fit for the labour market because they probably studied what did not match the demands of the market or what they had no interest in. [The RCPS] will create linkages between the industry and potential future employees or students early on.”
