Project Overview

The State of Alabama Department of Education (ALSDE) issued an RFP in 2010 to procure a comprehensive statewide online career planning system for students in grades 6 through 12. The ALSDE selected Kuder to develop the online system combining education planning, career exploration, and workforce readiness in a single platform to support its high school graduation requirements, including a four-year course of study, within a diploma or endorsement framework. To date, the system has assisted over 650,000 users in making informed educational and occupational decisions to help transition to their next stage of life.

“Kuder was able to meet our needs for our new diploma requirements, but also allow our students at the school level to pursue and explore certain courses that are only available to them locally. That’s made the ACPS very powerful.”

The Kuder Solution

Kuder Navigator®

Our career planning system for secondary students combines education planning, career exploration, and workforce readiness into a solid platform for success. Alabama students in grades 6 through 12 can build education plan based on Alabama courses of study; identify their interests, skills and work values; search for higher education and training; explore career options; create a professional portfolio of materials for prospective colleges and employers; and much more.

System Customization

Kuder developed a multy-year education planner tool to allow students to select a diploma path compliant with their Alabama High School diploma program. In addition, Kuder tailored a Curriculum Manager tool through which school courses can be uploaded to help the ALSDE facilitate more effective curriculum planning and reliable statewide career trend forecasting.

Direct Your Future™

Our Direct Your Future (DYF) curriculum enables Alabama educators and counselors to guide secondary students through the career planning process. DYF's lesson plans, resource files, classroom activities and homework assignments help students connect their classwork to the world of work.
