Des Moines Public Schools (DMPS) has selected Kuder Navigator® as its career information and decision-making system (CIS) for students in grades 6-12 as well as parents, teachers, and school counselors. In addition to Navigator, DMPS will incorporate Kuder’s secondary-level career development curriculum Direct Your Future™, and Kuder Connect 2 Business®, which enables students to view internships, co-ops, apprenticeships, and seasonal jobs offered by local businesses. The system will be available to DMPS as of the 2017-2018 school year. DMPS is the largest provider of public education in the State of Iowa, serving more than 32,000 students in more than 60 schools.

"Not only were we looking for the most effective, efficient, student-friendly tool, we were also quite mindful of making a wise financial decision,” said DMPS Counseling Specialist Amy Abler. “We also appreciated the added bonus of the familiarity and access that working with a local business provides, knowing that we have a united goal of enhancing the opportunities for our students here in Des Moines. When all stakeholders involved in the final decision compared our options, Kuder was the unanimous choice."

“As the State of Iowa’s designated CIS provider, and an Iowa-based organization, it’s a special honor for Kuder to serve Des Moines Public Schools in this way,” said Kuder President and CEO Phil Harrington. “We applaud the district’s commitment to supporting the long-term career development of students here in our community. We’re excited to help more Iowa students visualize what’s next in life – and make the plans to get there.”

In January 2017, the Iowa Department of Education (IDOE) selected Navigator as the state’s designated CIS.
