Florida expands statewide career planning system

Florida's statewide career planning system expands resources to support all ages — from pre-K through adulthood.

Florida Virtual Campus, a statewide provider of innovative educational services for Florida's K-20 community, announced today that Kuder Galaxy® — an online career awareness system for all students in grades pre-K through five –  is now accessible to Florida's young learners via the statewide online career planning system MyCareerShines, powered by Kuder®.

Florida Virtual Campus is funded by the Florida Legislature and administered by the University of West Florida. MyCareerShines has served students in grades six through 12, postsecondary students, and adults throughout the state since 2016. Galaxy is the latest addition to the system, which includes Kuder Navigator® for middle school and high school students and Kuder Journey® for college students and job seekers.

“Research tells us that career development is a lifelong process that begins in childhood,” said Nashla Dawahre-Williams, director of advising and student services at the Florida Virtual Campus. “At the elementary level, exploring careers early is tied to success in many other aspects of an individual’s development in childhood and adulthood. We are thrilled to expand our audience and the services offered by MyCareerShines, to assist pre-K through 5th grade students in exploring the world of work through fun games!”

"With the addition of Galaxy, MyCareerShines is a platform for lifelong learning and career development," said John Milroy, Kuder's vice president of client relations. "We're thrilled that from pre-K through adulthood, all Floridians can now access tools and resources to dream big, and plan accordingly."
