The Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) announced today that it has partnered with Kuder to implement our online career recovery resource platform Hope Central®. As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many Louisianans remain unemployed or under-employed. This partnership with Kuder allows LWC to reach more individuals and assist them in returning to work in family-sustaining careers, while also addressing mental health.

Addressing Mental Health Challenges While Coping with Job Loss

Resembling LWC programs such as Helping Individuals Reach Employment (HiRE) and Hire a Laid off Worker (HALOW), Hope Central – Louisiana’s Career Planning and Recovery System, powered by Kuder® – offers resources and tools catering to the social, emotional and mental effects of career recovery.

“This pandemic hasn’t been easy, especially for those who lost their jobs during the midst of it. Our office understands the domino-effect that losing a job has on an individual,” said LWC Secretary Ava Cates, “It impacts how you feed, house, and care for your family. We understand that not being able to do those things comfortably can be mentally draining, which is why the partnership with Kuder is a vital tool as we work to put Louisianans back to work.”

Hope Central online services are available to all LWC clients offering resources such as a Stress Resiliency Toolkit, Hope-Action assessments and tools for employers on how to create and maintain healthy work environments. At LWC’s 62 local offices there will be trained staff members to assist individuals in utilizing the Hope Central platform.

“Part of our mission is to provide resources to help raise aspirations to last a lifetime – and to help break down any barriers that may be encountered along the way,” said Kuder Chairman and CEO Phil Harrington. “Kuder is proud to support the Louisiana Workforce Commission’s mission and to work together to help unemployed and under-employed Louisianans recover, grow, and thrive. Through Hope Central, job-seekers will be able to adapt to this challenging job market and develop a framework for moving ahead in a positive direction.”
