Life is a game; enjoy it!

I used to just care about winning. Over time, I forgot to enjoy the game that I had fallen in love with in the first place. In golf and in life, putting too much pressure to win it all will leave you burned out and miserable. Have fun and enjoy yourself while striving toward your goals.

Forgive yourself.

Harping on your mistakes is a waste of time and detrimental to your self-esteem. After a bad shot/mistake, focus on the next move and forget the past. You can't change the past, but you can create the future.

Never stop learning.

Once you stop striving to improve your skills in golf or whatever situation you're in, you will stop improving. The only way to grow in golf and in life is to keep learning and to keep applying the skills you learn along the way. We can all find greatness within ourselves if we keep seeking answers and never stop learning.

Honesty is the best policy.

Unlike other sports, golf doesn't have refs, judges, or umpires. In order to be trusted and admired by fellow teammates and opponents, you need to be honest with your score. Just as in life, “Honesty is the best policy.”

Take risks.

In golf and in life sometimes you have to take risks. If it works, you'll gain confidence and be proud of yourself. If it doesn't work, you'll learn from the situation/action and do your best to avoid repeating it. Risks make life exciting!

Attitude is everything.

In golf, if you play with a bad attitude because of one bad shot, you're never going to succeed. In life, if you have a bad attitude, you won't succeed because you won't be likeable – and you'll be miserable.
