Mississippi’s college and career readiness framework is built around the Individual Success Plan (ISP), a required planning process defined in the Mississippi Public School Accountability Standards, Process Standard 14.1.4. All students must develop an ISP prior to exiting 7th grade and update it annually as they progress through high school.
The ISP serves as a multi-year roadmap that connects career exploration, academic planning, and postsecondary goals. Students use their plan to select diploma endorsements, align coursework, and prepare for college, careers, or workforce entry. Mississippi also requires completion of a one-credit College and Career Readiness (CCR) course, along with participation in career development and work-based learning experiences.
