Tennessee’s college and career readiness framework centers on the High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP), a required planning process that begins in middle school and extends beyond graduation. Students complete career assessments by grades 7 or 8, develop an HSBP by 8th grade, and update it annually.
The plan includes course sequencing, postsecondary goals, an elective focus, and participation in work-based learning and early postsecondary opportunities.
